Pierre Jacomet has almost 30 years of experience working around computers, has programmed in some forty computer languages, been journeyman and manager. He started in the early 80s playing with a Timex TS1000 and an Apple 2 computer where basic, Z80 and 6502 assembly were the lingua franca. From there he went to work in Unix for several years in languages like C/C++, RM Cobol and FoxPro, was the CIO of a medium sized company, created several systems for direct sales distribution and financial industries and was a leading consulting authority on Unix in Argentina co-founded the local /usr/group and Uniforum chapters. The early 90s saw him focusing initially in Novell Netware and then in Windows/NT.
His interest in highly scaleable OSs and Windows NT led him to join Microsoft where he spent 14 years in senior positions in consulting, development, and program management and was instrumental in bringing to life technologies like Windows XP Help System, Office DRM, BitLocker and Hyper-V of which he coded personally the security system. At that point, the cloud was becoming relevant and as such he went to work on cloud infrastructure designing highly nimble and elastic cloud services using Amazon web services. As the cloud cleared and several players emerged Microsoft Research hired Mr. Jacomet again to work in the extreme performance computing group researching high performance cloud technologies.
