Jamie Marra - Managing Partner
Prior to founding Maxsam Partners in 2004, Jamie was Chief Technology Officer for the EDS Innovation Centers. Mr. Marra led an organization responsible for evaluating next generation technologies and architectures that were 12- 36 month away from public release. Mr. Marra's organization focused on three key technology platforms which include .Net (Redmond Innovation Center), J2EE (Silicon Valley Innovation Center) and Legacy Application Migration and Modernization (Austin Innovation Center) along with cultivating key alliance partnerships with companies such as SUN, Microsoft, EMC, Oracle, BEA, Siebel, SAP, Tibco, Unisys, Fujitsu, and Dell. Mr. Marra has over 22 years of proven information technology and software development experience.
Before joining EDS, Mr. Marra was Chief Technology Architect for T-Mobile Wireless. Mr. Marra was Responsible for developing enterprise architectures ("blueprints") for systematically and completely defining T-Mobile's current (baseline) and future (target) IT (Infrastructure) environments. Jamie was also responsible for creating and executing the following enterprise strategies 1) Analytics and Reporting Strategy, 2) Billing Strategy, 3) Integration Strategy, 4) User Management Strategy, 5) Storage Strategy, 6) OS and Hardware Platform Strategy, 7) User Interface Strategy, 8) Tools and Methodology Strategy and 9) CRM Strategy.
Mr. Marra has also worked for Avenue A Inc, as their Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Software Development. Mr. Marra was a Corporate Officer and Member of Executive Team (reporting to President). He Led the definition, development, implementation, and support of on-line digital media enterprise Internet applications. Released 17 major Internet applications (some localized in German, French, etc.) within an 18 month period. Mr. Marra also defined and managed $25+ million dollar annual software development and support budget (capital & resource). Recruited and managed a team of 175+ Software Development Engineers, Database Engineers, Test Engineers, Program Managers, Project Managers, Systems Engineers, Network Engineers, Business analysts, and Production support personnel to perform the development described above.
Mr. Marra has also held Director positions at both Amazon.com and Microsoft Corporation.
Chak Cheung - Managing Partner
Chak Cheung has held a variety of executive positions including world wide vice president of sales and field operations for Encentuate (Founder of Match.com and Interwoven) in Foster City, CA where he was responsible for sales, channel, vertical market strategy and management of a global sales force.
Chak was also the global vice president of sales before promoted to President for Baltimore Technology Americas (BALT � NASDAQ / LFT), content security division and Sr. Vice President for the PKI and access security division. Baltimore acquired Content Technology for one billion dollars in 2001.
Chak also held positions as President/CEO and Board Member at a Seattle based Application Service Provider Infinitestores.com in 1999. He raised multi million dollars in capital, build a repeatable revenue stream and positioned for acquisition which was successful with Netmercury Corporation in 2000.
In 1997 he was the senior vice president of sales and business development for the US-based professional services, Inteliant Corporation (SOS � NASDAQ, where it was acquired by SOS for $100million). The major vertical focus was in Telco where the services was to build out billing systems, fraud management, activation system, 3G IP Core etc. The clients were AT&T, Pactel, Sprint, Nextel, etc.
He was also the regional director of sales at Pacific Bell Telesis where he directed a sales team that sold voice and data integration systems to enterprise level accounts and at Inacom he was the General Manager of the Northwest of US where he increased sales by 35% to 50% year after year.
Currently he sits as a board of director for IS4D and advisors for Hyperquality, Fabric7, Teneros, and Encentuate.

Jack Leary - Partner
Jack Leary has over 12 years experience in the software industry. In 2006 Mr. Leary founded Intersource, a professional services company focusing on technology management. Prior to founding Intersource, Jack was the Vice President of Application Development at the world?s largest digital imaging company, Getty Images. There he was a key leader on their award-winning IT executive team (CIO 100, FastCompany Fast50, InformationWeek 500). He spearheaded the new e-commerce platform positioned to take the company into its next revenue ?hockey-stick,? shepherded the team to new development methodologies permitting unparalleled productivity in the company and rapid release of high quality software while reducing operating and maintenance costs by millions each year. While with Microsoft, Jack drove several teams in both IT and Commercial Software efforts; consistently shipping high quality Line of Business applications and commercial software ahead of all expectation. During his time with ALLTEL, Jack drove aggressive, innovative efforts in both technology and in forming technology partnerships.
Scott Miskimens - Partner
Scott Miskimens was the former CIO of Ophrys, Inc., a startup focused on the financial industry. Before coming to Ophrys, Scott was the Senior Vice President CTO of Technology & Content Operations for Getty Images where he directed IT and infrastructure concerns managing over 400 employees on 3 continents. Mr. Miskimens held the Vice President of Technology Operations at Getty Images focusing on ecommerce and global company communications.
Mr. Miskimens has also consulted for communications and music industry companies Musicnet, T-Mobile, ALLTEL, and Comsys and has held directorship and senior level positions in the banking industry.

Steve Angelo - Associate
Steve is an experience executive level business and information technology professional with 25 years of experience driving high impact business performance solutions into commercial enterprises. He is a high performance executive leader of several professional services and consulting businesses ranging from startup to $60M operations – notably at Xerox Global Services, Cap Gemini and SolutionsIQ.
Steve has demonstrated experience in business transformation and business turnarounds. He also has demonstrated excellence in business performance improvement, business development, product development, team building, developing talent, and operational effectiveness.
As a technology professional, Steve has led software development organizations, project management teams, large scale technology outsource programs, served in executive capacities at four organizations and performs as an executive level consultant.
As a business professional, Steve has successfully managed professional services and consulting businesses including operations, sales, product development, engagement management, recruiting, and resource management. He has experience improving operations and profitability is adept at launching new services and implementing business transformation initiatives.
As a consultant and business development executive, Steve has sold more than $100M in professional services business in his career in custom application development projects, network services and integration project, ERP implementations, complete IT outsourcing projects and project management offices. Steve directly managed or provided executive oversight for all projects he sold.
Steve has deep experience in business process management and business workflow solutions. He has implemented full lifecycle ERP solutions on SAP, PeopleSoft and Oracle platforms. He has implemented new program management offices and consulted on improving program management functions at several organizations.
He is well versed in a variety of project management disciplines, including PMI’s PMBOK, Agile/Scrum and Microsoft’s SDLC.
Steve attended Washington University in St. Louis where he studied technology and information management and graduated with honors in 1985 with a bachelor of science degree.
Steve is a Six Sigma Black Belt, a certified Scrum Master, and is certified in Cap Gemini’s executive program management framework.
From 1993 through 2007, Steve has worked as VP of Professional Services at SolutionsIQ, VP and Unit Manager at Cap Gemini, Regional VP, Practice Director and National Business Manager for Xerox Global Services and VP of Program Management for Getty Images.
Prior to 1993, Steve held information technology positions as Software Developer, Business Analyst, Systems Programmer, Software Development Lead, and Data Center Manager.

Tim Chrobuck - Associate
Tim Chrobuck is a seasoned technology executive with over 25 years of experience in the industry. Mr. Chrobuck was the Vice President of Information Technology at MedManage Systems, Inc., a leading provider of prescription drug sampling solutions for the pharmaceutical industry, where he lead the design and launch of the award winning application eMedSample to the pharmaceutical industry within the first 6 months.
Mr. Chrobuck has held numerous senior executive positions at Fortune 100 companies and startups in a broad range of industries including communication and public works.
Patrick Flynn - Associate
Patrick Flynn has nearly 25 years of experience leading large, global Technology and Operations organizations. He is the former CTO and head of Content Operations at Getty Images and CIO of PACCAR Inc and has held senior management positions with FedEx and Fruit of the Loom.
Patrick�s passion is building organizations that demonstrate sustained excellence. This requires getting PEOPLE, PROCESS, and PRODUCTS right.
He now runs Flynn & Flynn LLC, a consultancy that provides world-class IT Leadership including transition management, strategy development and assessment, major project (ERP, CRM, custom e-commerce solutions, etc) review, risk assessment/management, investment and governance strategies.
The organizations that Patrick has led have been recognized with numerous industry awards and patents for processes and products.
In the meanwhile, Patrick is an active Private Pilot and aircraft owner flying all over the Western US. He runs, takes mediocre photographs and is in charge of keeping the family Golden Retriever on the straight and narrow.
John Hughes - Associate
For more than two decades, John Hughes has focused on helping senior managers and IT leaders improve their companies' business performance. Mr. Hughes founded GrowthWave in 2005 to help IT become a stronger contributor to overall business growth and success.
Prior to founding GrowthWave, John was the interim CIO and Vice President of Strategy & Brand for Cendant Timeshare Resort Group, part of Cendant Corporation.
Matt Kowalczyk - Associate
Mr. Kowalczyk spent 11 years at Microsoft specializing in new products and technologies. One of his bigger accomplishments was as a group member that successfully pitched the TabletPC concept to Bill Gates. Mr. Kowalczyk went on to lead a 65 person Test organization for the TabletPC team, which shipped the TabletPC software earlier than scheduled at a level of quality rarely seen in V1 products. This effort earned him two Gold Star awards, which are considered a very selective Microsoft honor.
Jim Maloney - Associate
Jim Maloney is President and CEO of Cyber Risk Strategies, leveraging more than 25 years of information technology experience on behalf of his clients. More than half of that experience is related specifically to risk management and information security, including Vice President, Chief Security Executive and CEO positions. Jim has expertise in most facets of security program management including security strategy, risk assessment, security framework selection, policies, procedures, staffing, compliance, and technology evaluations. He has also been directly involved in the full lifecycle of security product and services development from both business and technology perspectives.
As an adjunct professor in Norwich University's graduate level Information Assurance program, Jim teaches online courses and assists in the development of course content. Prior to establishing Cyber Risk Strategies, he was vice president and global head of security for a large e-commerce firm, managing the security of all internal and customer-facing information systems and data. Other assignments over the past 10 years have included chief security executive and vice president of security solutions for Corillian Corporation (Internet banking and security solutions), president and chief executive officer for Security Portal (online security consulting and information), and global practice leader for information security at SRI Consulting.
His accomplishments include defining and implementing an Information Security Management System at Corillian that was certified against the BS7799 standard. Subsequently, it was also one of the first security programs in the US to achieve ISO 27001 certification. In addition, Jim developed a user-friendly, strong authentication system for web applications based on real-time risk assessments. This system is currently used by several leading Internet banking web sites. Jim invented the concepts behind the system, is the patent application holder, and managed the team that successfully turned the concepts into a product.
Jim has current certifications as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM). He holds an MS in management from Stanford University, an MBA from City University, an MS in engineering from Northwestern University, and a BS in system design from Marquette University.
His commentary and insights on the subject of information security are highly regarded. He has presented at a variety of conferences, been quoted in the national press, and has appeared on ABC World News and the PBS Nightly Business Report.
Tom Page - Associate
Tom has twenty years of information technology experience with a pattern if increasing responsibility and success. Tom is a versatile technology professional with significant experience working in complex corporate IT environments as well as startup environments. He has broad based technical skills including emerging technologies like .Net, web services, and service oriented architectures. Tom?s experience includes working for EDS in a consulting role, ten years of experience with Nordstrom including deployment of enterprise applications and launch of the Nordstrom.com ecommerce site, and startup experience with Meals.com and Interact. Tom combines deep and broad technical knowledge with executive level business savvy.
Amy Siltanen - Associate
For close to 10 years Amy has worked in both Facilities Management and Executive Assistant roles with two great Northwest companies, aQuantive Inc/Avenue A and Amazon.com. Prior to that Amy worked for 12 years at Nordstrom, holding positions in the Corporate Restaurant Division as an Executive Assistant and Bookkeeper. She also held roles as an Espresso Bar Manager, Cafe Manager, Assistant Kitchen Manager and Barista.
Vidur Verma - Associate
Mr. Verma is a senior-level professional with almost twenty years' experience in Information Systems management consulting with a "Big 5" firm on large-scale systems development and integration, and Program and Project Management for Fortune 100 companies.
He is an accomplished practitioner in Program Management, Strategic Planning, Requirements Management, Release Management, Business Process Reengineering, Change Management, and personnel development. More recently, his focus is on Voice-over Internet Protocol (VoIP) implementation with wireless networks, digital imaging solutions for healthcare, web portals, Content Management Systems, CRM and ERP technologies.
